SENTINEL M1 · PILOT APPLICATIONS OPEN

KNOW WHEN
THE MACHINE
BEGINS TO CHANGE.

Sentinel is being developed to watch suitable rotating equipment between inspections, put condition evidence in front of the maintenance team and record what happened after intervention.

A bounded first deployment

START WITH THE
MACHINES THAT MATTER.

The proposed Critical Asset Pilot starts with a small set of machines whose unexpected loss has a meaningful operating consequence. SSA documents the asset and monitoring position, establishes normal behaviour, reviews material changes and connects investigated events to the physical finding.

INITIAL EQUIPMENT

Accessible AC motors, centrifugal pumps, fans, blowers, simple gearboxes and conveyor drives, subject to application review.

WHAT THE TEAM RECEIVES

Asset onboarding, baseline history, condition review, maintenance-event records and before/after verification when intervention occurs.

WHAT SENTINEL IS NOT

A safety instrument, machinery-protection system, guaranteed failure predictor or replacement for maintenance engineering judgment.

The operating loop

AN ALERT SHOULD LEAD
TO A BETTER DECISION.

The useful record joins the signal to what the team inspected, what work was performed and whether the measured condition improved.

01SENSE

Capture vibration, surface temperature and activity from an agreed monitoring position.

02BASELINE

Establish how that specific machine behaves during normal operating states.

03REVIEW

Put a material change and its evidence in front of an engineer.

04ACT

Inspect the equipment and perform the appropriate maintenance response.

05VERIFY

Measure again to see whether the condition moved back toward normal.

06LEARN

Preserve the event, finding and outcome in the machine’s Asset Passport.

The initial system

DESIGNED TO START
WITHOUT AN IT PROJECT.

Use useful plant data where it already exists. Add independent monitoring where important machines remain unseen.

ON THE MACHINE

Sentinel node

Vibration, surface temperature, machine activity, local processing and buffered measurements.

→
AT THE FACILITY

SSA gateway

Independent communications and backhaul intended to reduce dependence on plant Wi-Fi.

→
WITH THE TEAM

Condition review

Baseline, trends, engineering evidence and a clear workflow for investigation.

→
OVER TIME

Asset Passport

Machine identity, monitoring history, maintenance findings, interventions and verified outcomes.

Application boundary

QUALIFY THE ASSET
BEFORE INSTALLATION.

A USEFUL FIRST FIT
  • Rotating equipment with accessible bearing housings
  • Meaningful downtime or maintenance consequence
  • Incomplete continuous condition monitoring
  • A maintenance team able to investigate findings
OUTSIDE THE INITIAL SCOPE
  • Hazardous-area applications requiring certified equipment
  • Safety-instrumented or machinery-protection functions
  • Turbines and complex reciprocating machinery
  • A promise that every failure will be detected

Have 8–12 machines worth watching more closely?
